Order T-Shirts, Mugs, Caps and the New FORESTS FOREVER Book!

SAN FRANCISCO — Do the forests a favor this season with great holiday gifts!

Forests Forever works hard all year long to protect ancient forests and put an end to clearcutting. Your contributions for Forests Forever merchandise will help the organization keep California green.

Plus, if you’re really committed and eager to pitch in, we’re seeking Bay Area volunteers to help out with our marketing effort!

Topping the Forests Forever merchandise list this year is an important new book on forest ecology and conservation, John J. Berger’s FORESTS FOREVER: Their Ecology, Restoration and Protection.

Hot off the press from the Forests Forever Foundation and The Center for American Places, FORESTS FOREVER is being distributed nationwide by the University of Chicago Press. The book is now available in hardcover ($55.50 including shipping) and softcover ($33.50 including shipping).

In FORESTS FOREVER, Berger discusses how we might learn to live with forests without destroying them. The book explains principles of sustainability and talks about how we can and must reverse the damage done to forests by decades of destructive mismanagement and careless overuse.

This handsome volume boasts 88 pages of color and black-and-white photographs by some of the most respected names in nature photography, including Gary Braasch, Daniel Dancer, Bob Herger, Martin Litton and Larry Ulrich.

To order the book and/or such collectible FoFo logo items as t-shirts, mugs, caps, mousepads and stickers, visit the Forests Forever online store at https://www.forestsforever.org/cgi-local/SoftCart.100.exe/online-store/scstore/shophome.html?E+scstore

Ordering through Forests Forever’s website ensures that more of your purchase contribution dollar goes directly to Forests Forever.

Forests Forever is going all-out to present Berger’s superbly researched and written book to the world. We’re even looking for marketing volunteers to help out at the author’s office in Berkeley.

If you live in or near Berkeley and want to undertake promotional tasks such as phone calls and letter writing, give us a call at (415) 974-3636 or send an email to mail@forestsforever.org ASAP to let us know you’re available.

Berger holds advanced degrees in energy and natural resources and in ecology. His other books include Restoring the Earth: How Americans Are Working to Renew Our Damaged Environment; and Charging Ahead: The Business of Renewable Energy and What It Means for America.

Naturalist and author Chris Maser (Trees, Truffles, and Beasts: How Forests Function; Forest Primeval: The Natural History of an Ancient Forest) writes:

“Society has learned little from history, in part because the cumulative tyranny of unwise decisions, which led to catastrophic events, has seldom been chronicled. In his book, FORESTS FOREVER, John Berger provides a rare archive of such myopic political/economic actions that, if taken seriously, can help prevent further destruction of the world’s forests, which, after all, constitute part of the global commons. As such, sustainable forests are everyone_s birthright.”

In addition to making FORESTS FOREVER available to our friends, admirers and supporters, we’re also promoting our exclusive merchandise items, all emblazoned with the distinctive Forests Forever logo.
