Roadless Rule protecting forests under dual threat even as hopeful opportunity picks up support

Saying this wildlands protection rule is wildly popular would be no exaggeration: When the Roadless Area Conservation Rule was promulgated in 2001 it generated some 1.6 million comments, the vast majority in favor of strong forest protections. That made it the largest outpouring of public support for any rule in our history.

But this hasn't stopped ideologues like Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who has repeatedly tried and failed to sell off our public lands. Now he wants to kill the Roadless Rule.

His effort comes at the same time the Trump administration is trying its own tactic to kill the rule. Trump's next move has yet to be announced, but until it is we can defeat the Lee amendment and support a bill that would make the Roadless Rule the law of the land!
