ACTION ALERT

JACKSON STATE FOREST NEEDS YOUR HELP

Your help is urgently needed to protect a very special place– Jackson State Forest, a 50,000-acre redwood forest located in Mendocino County, only a few hours drive north of San Francisco.

I know you care deeply about the magnificent redwood forests that are one of California's greatest natural wonders. Jackson Forest is special because it is owned by you and me.

I can't overemphasize the importance of your taking action at this crucial time. Citizen lawsuits have halted logging in Jackson Forest for the last four years. Now, we are on the verge of permanently protecting Jackson State Forest. Legislation has been introduced in the state Senate that would redefine the purpose of the forest from timber production to restoration. The state is separately reconsidering the forest's management plan.

But our successes have mobilized the timber industry to oppose us. They are deluging the managers of the forest and state legislators with letters and lobbyist visits.

If you want our precious redwood forest restored and passed on to our children, please lend your voice to our cause. Only by acting together can we overcome the entrenched power of the timber industry.
Please take one minute to go to the link below and tell the state Board of Forestry that you want Jackson State Forest managed for recreation, wildlife habitat , and research– not for intensive timber production.

Please act now. THE DEADLINE FOR LETTERS IS MARCH 18, 2004– only a few days away. It takes less than one minute to tell the government to restore the forest rather than log it. Please go to:

Please do it now. The deadline for response is MARCH 18.

YOUR RESPONSE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Sincerely,

Vince
